Terms of Service
Last updated 2 August 2026
1. Agreeing to these terms
By using Alt Hunt you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. If you are using Alt Hunt for a company, you are confirming you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
2. What Alt Hunt is
Alt Hunt lets software makers publish comparison pages against the tools they compete with, and lets buyers read them. Pages appear on a board that resets every week, ranked by the readers voting on them.
We are a publishing platform. We do not verify the claims makers publish, and a page appearing here is not an endorsement by us.
3. Your account
You sign in through Google. Keep that account secure, because anything published from it is treated as published by you. One person, one account. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
4. The weekly board
- Pages are grouped into weeks that run Monday to Sunday. Ranking within a week is by reader votes.
- A page published before the Wednesday cutoff joins the current week. After that, it goes into the next week, so a page that arrives late does not compete against a week that has nearly finished.
- You can schedule a page up to 6 weeks ahead. A scheduled page is private until its week opens: it is not on the board, not in our sitemap, and returns nothing to anyone without your preview link.
- Publishing casts your own upvote on your page. Voting for your own page beyond that, or organising votes, is grounds for removal.
5. Plans and limits
- Free. 1 published comparison page, with one edit after publishing.
- Pro, $49 one-time. Up to 10 pages and unlimited edits. Pro is not released yet. Nothing is charged today, and the features listed for it are a statement of intent, not a promise of a date. If we change the price before launch, anyone on the waitlist will be told before being asked to pay.
6. Your content
What you publish stays yours. By publishing it you give us permission to host it, show it, and let search engines index it, which is the entire point of the service. That permission ends when you delete the page, except for copies already cached elsewhere, which are out of our hands.
You are responsible for having the right to publish what you upload, including images and logos.
7. Writing about competitors
Comparison pages exist to name other products, and doing so honestly is allowed. What is required of you:
- Feature and pricing claims about a competitor must be accurate on the day you publish, and corrected when you learn they are not.
- Use another company's name and marks only to identify their product, not in a way that suggests they endorse or are affiliated with you.
- No false statements of fact about a competitor, and no disparagement dressed up as comparison.
Every page carries a correction form. If a competitor tells us a claim is wrong and it is, we will ask you to fix it, and we will remove the page if you do not.
8. AI-assisted drafts
We can generate a draft to start you off. A draft is a starting point and nothing more: it can be wrong, out of date, or confidently invented. You are responsible for everything you publish, whether you wrote it or the draft did. Read it before you publish it.
9. Comments and conduct
- Links in comments are rendered as plain text, and comments that look like link spam are hidden automatically.
- Criticise the product, not the person. No harassment and no hate speech.
- Do not scrape the site, hammer our endpoints, or try to get at data that is not yours.
10. Sponsored placements
Some slots on the site are paid placements, and they are labelled "Sponsored" wherever they appear. Paying for a slot buys visibility in that slot. It buys no influence over the board, the rankings, or the content of any comparison page.
11. Suspension and removal
We can remove a page or suspend an account that breaks these terms, infringes someone else's rights, or is being used to attack the service. We will tell you why. You can close your account whenever you like.
12. No warranty, and what we are liable for
Alt Hunt is provided as it is. We do not guarantee it will be available without interruption, that a page will rank in any search engine, or that anything published here is accurate.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost traffic or lost data, and our total liability to you is capped at whatever you have actually paid us, which for a free account is nothing. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
13. Changes to these terms
We will update the date at the top when these terms change, and email account holders when a change materially affects them.
14. Contact
